Deputy Manager – Alhampton Inn Community Pub

Salary: £30,000/annum + bonus’

About the Role

If this sounds like something you want to be a part of, we are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant General Manager who is going to continue to bring us more ‘oxygen’. Your role will be key to ensuring a smooth daily operation of the pub, delivering excellent customer service, and fostering a warm, friendly atmosphere for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Assist in the day-to-day running of the pub, ensuring high standards of service, cleanliness, and compliance with licensing laws.

  • Team Management: Supervise and motivate staff, providing training and support to enhance performance.

  • Customer Experience: Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all guests, ensuring top-quality service and resolving customer concerns effectively.

  • Cellar Management: Ensure the cellar is well maintained, beer lines are kept clean (in accordance with the Brewers Association https://www.brewersassociation.org/association-news/importance-draught-beer-line-cleaning/ and that hygiene standards are compliant.

  • Stock & Inventory: Assist in managing stock levels, placing orders, and reducing waste to maximise profitability.

  • Financial Support: Help manage budgets, control costs, and oversee cash handling procedures.

  • Events & Promotions: Support planning and execution of events, live music nights, quiz nights, and community-driven activities.

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all health, safety, and food hygiene standards are upheld.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a pub, bar, or hospitality setting.

  • A passion for great customer service and building relationships within the community.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Experience with stock control, cash handling, and cost management.

  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Personal License preferable.
