More than a local pub. Here at The Ally we believe our community pub is more than just good beer. It's about creating unforgettable moments, fostering connections, and providing a welcoming ambience that feels like home. Our pub is run by the community for the community, is fully inclusive and has been welcoming folk for over 350 years. There is a great social atmosphere and The Ally is home to clubs and events which bring us all together and everyone is welcome to join in!
For almost four centuries, the Alhampton Inn has been a gathering place for the residents of Alhampton in Somerset. We know from parish records that there has been an alehouse here since the 17th century and by the 18th century, it was operating under the name of the Knave of Clubs.

When the pub closed in late 2022, villagers and friends rushed in to save it from disappearing. The heart of our village had to be put back. We created a Community Benefit Society, funds were raised and a lease was signed with new owners. In less than a year, the pub doors are open once again!*
Like so many pubs in small rural communities, the Alhampton Inn has been a symbol of continuity in an ever-changing world. It seems only fitting that the Knave of Clubs pub sign is reinstated to its historic place now the community has taken over the running of the pub.
